The Perfect Wedding Gift for a Pair of Mustang Lovers.

Friends didn’t have to think hard to find a gift that would make Denna Wells and Judd Nilles wedding special: throw them a car show. Wells and Nilles have been together for over 26 years, and much of that time has been spent customizing and modifying Mustangs. For the last six years the couple has been racing and showing Shelby Mustangs all over the country. So when the couple decided to finally tie the knot, it was only natural that somehow Mustangs should be involved.

So on Saturday April 20th, after their wedding ceremony in a church near downtown St. Charles IL, there will be an escorted parade of Mustangs from the church to their wedding reception / car show. Double K Productions is organizing the car show as a gift to Wells and Nilles. The couple will have a private reception at a bar adjoining the car show, so guests can take partake in both the reception and car show. The car show is open to the public and the couple hopes to “see the street filled with Shelbys, Mustangs, Cobras and Lightings”.

Before the plans could be finalized however, a little hurdle called the St Charles city council had to be crossed. Besides the escorted parade, the event will require a stretch of road along the Fox River and a city parking lot be closed. The show also requires a permit for sound amplification so Double K can turn up the oldies. Initially there was some resistance but the street closures and sound permit passed with only one alderman voting against it.

The organizers expect over 100 vehicles to take part in the show, and while it is a Mustang show, “there will also be room for other makes and models”. The show will have unique trophy categories. Usually Double K shows are popular vote shows with classes categorized by decades. For this show there will be 8 trophies, Groom’s pick, Bride’s pick, Best Man’s pick, Matron of Honor’s pick, Bridesmaid’s pick, River Rockhouse’s (location of reception) pick and the most coveted award, Minister’s pick. Dash plaques will be awarded to all entrants.

Congrats to Judd & Denna, many happy years of cruising your Mustangs. And kudos to the St Charles, IL City Council for allowing this to happen.
